More than a record store
A journey that appears brief but actually begins long ago.
Music has always been one of my greatest passions;
It’s difficult to explain why; probably because it has always been there.
In the beautiful moments. In the terrible ones.
Always.
You reach a certain point in your life where you ask yourself: “What the hell am I doing with my life?” It will happen, I assure you.
The answer I found was: REBEL REBEL.
You must do something you love, something that makes you feel good.
This long but necessary preamble to help you understand where Rebel Rebel Records Store comes from.
It starts from a crazy idea, to which the people around you react, incredibly, saying, in unison: “Hell yes, you must do it!”
It comes from the numerous record shops visited in Italy and Europe in recent years, hours of conversation with colleagues who preceded me.
It stems from dozens of empty shops viewed and discarded.
It arises from a tragedy that transforms into glory.
It begins with a passing of the baton.
Before Rebel Rebel at 1F Largo Adolph Kolping, you could find Walter Eschgfaller and Disco New, for 40 years a city landmark for record shops. Walter left us in early March, mourned by the affection of an entire city.
A legend in this world.
But tragedy, at times, transforms. Destiny.
It begins with a lot of individual work, phone calls, sweat, blood, bureaucracy.
It starts because one evening you’re watching ZeroCalcare on Netflix and that damned question returns again: “What the hell am I doing with my life?”
Rebel Rebel Records Store officially opens on Saturday, 6 August 2022, welcomed by a crowd that, at its peak, reaches 50-60 people outside the shop. It’s just the beginning, of course, but it’s a triumph.
Rebel Rebel RS aims to become a reference point and meeting place for music lovers, musicians, young and old.
More than a Records Store.
More than a record shop. Through the organisation of events, release parties, and similar activities. Because a place like this should never be taken for granted. I assure you that there aren’t many left.
I assure you that it’s hard to plan.
I assure you that it’s hard to stay open.
It’s done out of passion; if you want to become a millionaire, it’s better to do something else.
Like being TikTokers. Or studying, perhaps. At worst, being pushers.
I chose to be a pusher of music. YOUR PUSHER OF MUSIC.
Personally, there are few places where I feel as comfortable as in a record shop.
I hope to bring all this into Rebel Rebel.
I hope to convey all this to my customers.
I hope this adventure is long and rebellious.
Because nothing lasts forever; all things must pass…
But Rebel Rebel is here to stay.
I look forward to seeing you.
